PDA Initiatives in a Teaching Hospital: Plugging in the Library

The following is an abstract of a presentation from Steve Grove and Christine Dziedzina which was presented at the Midwest Chapter meeting of the Medical Library Association in Minneapolis, September 30:

" Christine Dziedzina and Steven Grove, of the Brittingham Memorial Library at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, OHIO have undertaken an initiative to lead a PDA program in their institution. With the establishment of a PDA Users Group, as well as coordination with their Information Systems Department, the Library will provide for and coordinate the efficient distribution of some of their institution's applications in PDA format. By utilizing the technical assistance of Information Systems, library staff use a dedicated workstation in the library to synch an electronic bundle of PDA tools (ONLY ME, security program;Hospital phone; and an on-call schedule[soon to be announced]). Brittingham Memorial Library will act as a distribution point for new
CLIE PEG-SJ 20 PDAs for medical staff who use their book funds to purchase a PDA."

Please email Steve for more information.
